During the Nepal Unification campaign, King Prithvi Narayan Shah strategically built a fort atop the hill south of Chaukot, with Gorkhali troops deployed to seize Chaukot in 1761
A fierce battle ensued lasting 15 grueling days and culminating in the capture of Chaukot fort on 8 June 1761
